PROBLEM: to create a mixed media animation from a video through combining analog materials
IDEA: I came across one of my favorite videos of my best friend Kate from a bike ride through downtown Fort Collins and decided to rework it into something new. It was filmed just before we graduated, and I love how free and joyful she looks in that moment - it felt like the perfect footage to build from.
PROCESS: I brought the video into Adobe Premiere Pro and screen-grabbed every third frame to create a more jumpy, fragmented motion effect. I then arranged the stills into groups of four on 8x12 sheets and printed them out. From there, I shifted into a fully hands-on process — drawing over the prints, cutting into them, adding sparkles, and experimenting with other analog materials and textures.
